Food Rule Number Six: Gather your Food!

I prepare breakfast on this counter, with my rooster friend here helping salute the day!

This week, we stopped at  our U-Pick farm on Floras Creek and collected strawberries and raspberries.

For the next few days, these beauties will be transformed.
Hubby will want pies and cobblers.
These are plump and juicy morsels of instant sunshiny goodness, both tart and sweet, smelling of the fog and the ocean breezes that nurtured them. They will become stars at each of our meals this week.

Pancakes, and blintzes come to mind.  How about you? What delectable concoctions will you prepare with this abundance?

It's seven thirty and early enough for me to whip up a cobbler, served hot in one hour when Hubby wakes up, alongside a bowl of ricotta with hints of orange.  Yum! Got to go. Oh, here is the recipe, should you want to make your own.

Raspberry Cobbler downloaded from Cooks.com

1/2c melted butter
3/4c milk
1 1/2c sugar
1c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
2-4 cups of raspberries

Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a 7"X11" baking dish. Mix together the milk, 1 cup of sugar, flour and baking powder. Pour this mixture over the butter. Do Not Stir.

Pour the berries over the batter and butter. Do Not Stir.

Pour the remaining sugar over the berries. Do Not Stir.

Bake the cobbler at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes, or until the crust is browned and set.

Happy Eating!
