First berries, just picked this morning, not enough for a meal, but enough to bring a smile on my face. If you don't grow your own strawberries, or any other berries, you have no idea of the joy I'm experiencing. I know I protected this morsel from the world of attackers and taking this bite is my sweet revenge.
Sure, you say, I'd rather purchase mine at the market, get a whole basket and indulge.
Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy those berries.
But, you will not experience the joy of having succeeded in saving it for yourself! Yes, the birds and the slugs didn't get this one, and for that, I'm grateful.
I tip my hat to farmers everywhere, every time I put a morsel like this in my hungry mouth. Good food, free of pesticides, is not easy to grow. And the result, the eating of it, should be of importance and should be celebrated, blessed even.
